Rapid Survey on the Needs of Young Key Populations Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Posted on Mar 31, 2020

A survey that assesses the needs of key populations and young people living with HIV to ensure that no one is left behind during the COVID-19 pandemic

Youth LEAD in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Young Key Populations members developed a rapid survey that targets predominately young people from key populations and young people living with HIV from 18 to 29 in Asia and the Pacific.

Youth LEAD invites focal points, network members and allies to complete the survey. All answers provided will remain anonymous and your responses cannot be used to identify you.

COVID-19 is a serious pandemic, unprecedented in our lifetimes. The Interagency Task Team (IATT) on Young Key Populations (YKPs) in Asia and the Pacific is concerned about the welfare of vulnerable and marginalised populations, including young key populations and young people living with HIV and the possibility of severe disruption to HIV prevention, testing and treatment services. The IATT on YKPs is concerned that during the COVID-19 outbreak stigma and discrimination will affect access to services for adolescents and young people living with HIV, young sex workers, young transgender people, young people who use drugs and young men who have sex with men.

To contribute to mitigating the impact of COVID-19, the IATT on YKPs is launching a rapid survey to assess information needs, medication on hand and ability to access HIV services and support networks among young key populations and young people living with HIV from Asia and the Pacific region during COVID-19 pandemic. The findings will inform contingency plans and actions to help countries continue to provide access to HIV and other services for vulnerable and key populations as we fight to get COVID-19 under control. The outcomes of the survey are also expected to help support local solutions through the leadership of the young key populations and young people living with HIV in providing information, finding joint problem-solving measures and being a voice for the voiceless.

If you are a young person from key populations or a young person living with HIV aged 18-29, please share with us your needs related to information, access to antiretroviral treatment, medical care, or other services. The IATT on YKP is committed to supporting young people from key populations, living with and affected by HIV through this situation, by providing updated information on COVID-19 and promoting advocacy efforts to meet the needs of YKPs across the region.
